Storbyhaven Valby
Info
Description
The park consists of 3 main elements: The Urban Forest, The Hilly Garden and The Active Edge.
Local rainwater drainage in The Urban Forest
The Urban Forest spreads out from the southern part of the park, an open canopy with different types of oak that create a ceiling, while the area itself is open to access from all sides. The area constitutes the urban meeting point. It also contains an integrated rainwater solution with different sizes of water basins between the tree trunks where the rainwater is collected, slowly sieved downwards and evaporated while reflecting the sky and drawing light down to the ground.
The Hilly Garden: A place for play
The Hilly Garden is the green playful element that unites the area from east to west. Light washes over the garden on sunny days, making it a visually appealing place with its colourful beds and fruit trees. Lie down on the grass to read a book, spread out your picnic blanket or go exploring with the children up and down the hills.
Meeting places at The Active Edge
The Active Edge forms the transition from the square and the quiet street to the park. The ‘edge’ is an active piece of wooden furniture that bends up and down and alternates between wide and narrow. It is located in the middle of Storbyhaven, where one can sit, play and meet with friends.
