Description

Landscape Renovation, New Terraces, and Arrival Area
Hvidøre Castle is a richly decorated historic estate with an existing garden designed by C. Th. Sørensen. Once owned by Queen Alexandra of England and Empress Dagmar of Russia, the castle was converted into a sanatorium in 1937 by the founders of Novo. As part of an extensive renovation of the buildings, 1:1 Landskab has restored the surrounding landscape and designed new arrival areas and terraces for the estate.

Serene landscape design
1:1 landskab has created a refined landscape using high-quality materials that age gracefully over time. Simple architectural interventions bring calmness and coherence, allowing the site to keep its unique identity while meeting the functional demands of a high-end international conference center. The terraces are paved with light sandstone that complements the estate’s exclusive and classical villa style. The arrival area and parking lot are surfaced with granite from Bornholm, and a large rhododendron garden has been established within the grounds.
