Description
Citizen engagement
Local residents were involved throughout the development of the urban space. Together with the urban renewal project, 1:1 Landskab held 19 activities.
Folehaven is a diverse neighborhood. To reflect this in the process, different user groups were included. Seniors tested benches and discussed flowers, while local kids explored a 3D model of the square, sharing which ball games they already play—and which ones they lack facilities for.
Tons of movement
A multi-court with pink stripes challenges our gender-stereotypical perception of ball games. The court is surrounded by a wooden deck, which serves both as bleachers for local matches and as seating facing the lawn.
3-meter-tall swings and a training structure with horizontal nets at the top have been installed. So, even on a lazy day, you can still keep up with your friends' football game.
From the climbing area, a balance path winds its way under tree canopies and through planting beds with a wild garden feel, creating the sensation of an adventure into the unknown.
An urban space for the Elderly
Along the way, the nursing home residents were involved to ensure they would also feel encouraged to use the space. Based on their input, the we carefully selected sensory plants and beautiful flowers to bring joy to the neighborhood’s elderly residents. Several thousand perennials are being planted together with hundreds of bushes and trees. Under a pergola planted with climbers, they have a comfortable spot with a good view of the life unfolding in the urban space.
