Description

Nobelparken’s design is centered around three key spatial elements: the Edge Zone, the Promenade Loop, and the Park Area. The Edge Zone forms the transition between buildings, street, and park—blurring the lines of the traditional streetscape and weaving it seamlessly into the park.

The Promenade Loop is the main circulation route. With its precise and structured urban expression, it provides a striking contrast to the softer park landscape. In the Park Area, planted islands define spaces for specific park activities. Together, these three design elements make Nobelparken both resilient and adaptable, allowing its functions to evolve over time.

Plants give variation
The park islands feature diverse vegetation and varying volumes, creating a rich and dynamic landscape experience. Each island is unique, offering spaces for play, cultivation, quiet relaxation, and active use—all within a variety of planting styles that enrich the park without disrupting its overall design.

It was important to us that the park offers activities for everyone—regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity. At the same time, it also needed to function as a cloudburst park, capable of retaining rainwater during extreme weather events. We chose 1:1 Landskab for the project because they had a strong understanding of our vision and a solid working method. We developed the concept together, and it was a highly fruitful and collaborative process.

I can’t help but feel happy when I visit the park and see how many people are already using it. Even though the neighborhood is still in its early stages, local residents have discovered the park and are making active use of it. It has truly become a gathering place—one that also attracts visitors from other parts of the city.
