The closure of a residential street created new open spaces for the two schools on either side of it. Genvejen offers plenty of room for play and motion as well as fun and contemplation.

Description

Movement: Not just for the youngest pupils

1:1 Landskab has designed an active meeting place in the middle of a residential street that encourages more active recreation among older pupils. A handful of large features give many different people the opportunity to make use of the space, including older pupils who are not as physically active. The landscape is quite simply designed in a way that makes it impossible to avoid getting some exercise in.

Outdoor space for teaching

Genvejen gives the school a much-needed space for thinking in other learning styles. It offers a wealth of opportunities to take entire classes or small groups outdoors and offer a different kind of teaching that combines learning and movement. At the same time, it is a place that can be enjoyed by the whole neighbourhood during the daytime, ensuring it is always full of activity and life.

Selected project in the ‘Drøn på Skolegården’ campaign funded by Realdania and LOA.
