Info

Description

The landscape design and identity grow out of the nature of Amager Fælled. The courtyards opens out toward the landscape and invite nature all the way up to the buildings. The courtyards are atypical, as they function on nature’s terms rather than humans’. Tons of native plants will be planted to support the local wildlife. Local birds, bats, and insects should feel just as at home here as they do on Amager Fælled, because each courtyard extends the natural habitats already found there: shrubland, grassland, and wetlands.

Together in Fælledby
Positioned at the edge of the Fælled, the local squares with their paved areas with grass-reinforced paving and recycled materials offer a gentle transition from nature to our social spaces. The local squares serve as a framework for neighborhood life among residents. Here, you’ll find the kind of everyday activity typically seen in the courtyards of traditional city blocks. Residents can set up picnic tables and enjoy the view over Amager Fælled, while children roller skate and draw with chalk on the large open areas.

Engpladsen is the central gathering space of Neighborhood B. The square will feature a large wooden pavilion, where shade sails, hammocks, string lights, flags, partitions, and other elements can be added. Making it possible for the residents to hold events of various scales—all beneath the canopy of a birch grove and surrounded by the scent of herbs and low-growing shrubs.
