Control and Maintenance Centre for the Light Rail

Info
Description
A poplar grove surrounds the building and the parking lot. The poplar tree was chosen for its ability to grow large and imposing—creating a striking contrast to the site's massive, functional scale. The organic and ever-changing set against the functionally determined.
The undergrowth is sown out as a salt-tolerant native meadow mix to support biodiversity. This meadow mix is also used in the rainwater swales along the established parking area. During rain, the swales delay runoff from the paved parking surfaces; in dry weather, they appear as vibrant wildflower meadows.
To introduce even more greenery into the otherwise functional site, the parking area is constructed with reinforced grass paving.
A pedestrian path made of large concrete slabs leads from Ring 3 to the main entrance, improving access for pedestrians and cyclists. The path separates soft traffic from cars.
The path widens into a forecourt in front of the entrance. Accessible parking is placed closest to the entrance, while bike parking is located directly adjacent to it.
